Happy New Year! Ok, I know I’m a little belated with my well-wishing. Hell, even this newsletter is belated (it’s been about 2 1/2 months since I last dropped a line. EEEEK).
But I’ve got a good excuse, really. Things have been a bit crazy around these parts – December was packed full of shows, spanning from Texas to Iowa. I spent a little time in early January doing a bit of R&R in southern Florida, mainly consisting of fishing, long walks on the beach, and some napping in the sun by the pool. (For more pics from the Florida trip and other recent shenanigans, hit up my Instagram.) But now that I’ve had a chance to recoup and refresh a bit it’s time to get back to work. I’m spending some time in the studio writing new music and looking forward to bringing it to you later this year. Speaking of which:
Shows! I’m excited to announce my first-ever open-to-the-public performances here in my newly-adopted hometown: I’ll be behind the baby grand singin’ my little heart out for you at Perry’s in downtown Austin on Saturday, Feb. 2nd and again on Saturday, March 16th, starting at 6pm.
Shows for non-Texans! I know it’s January, but believe it or not your favorite song-slinger is already hard at work booking shows for this summer’s tour roster. I’ve had a number of folks ask how they can get me to come play their town, so I thought I’d let y’all in on a little secret: all you have to do is ask. Really. The absolute best way to get me to add a date in your town is to host a house concert at your place. The second-best way is to tell me a venue near you that you think fits well with the sort of music I play. I promise I’ll look into it. Pretty easy, right? If you’d like to host, have ideas for venues or even if you’d just like to learn a bit more about how house concerts work, all you have to do is reply to this email with your thoughts and I’ll be in touch shortly.
And just for fun (and to say thanks for reading this far) – The last few remaining Halfway to Austin Tour Tees are now up at my webstore, and half off. So just $10 plus shipping for a damn fine lookin’ tee (but hurry, there are only 1 or 2 left in several of the sizes).
Speaking of tour shirts, my friend and photographer Jennifer Dawson Sampica just sent me this shot of her vintage Roxi tour tee hanging out to dry while cruising around Culebrita, Puerto Rico. Color me jelly.
While in Florida I did a little fishin’ off the isle of Capri. Caught some Sheepshead for dinner (if you’re curious as to why they’re called Sheepshead, google ’em, I promise it’s worth it).
love and thoughts of spring,
-Roxi
